Obeo fire

First Impression: I got a real “warm” welcome upon landing and exiting my ship. Thankfully, the mini-wildfires were few and far between while I explored the world a bit further.

The fires didn’t leave much on the landscape except some brush and a few rock formations. A smattering of cacti covered the rolling hills. Not pictured: occasional Echinocactus to deliver some fresh Cactus Flesh.

Obeo cavern

The cavern systems reflected the windswept nature of the planet. Dust, sand, and various desert flora took up residence inside, while stalagmites and stalactites made their homes among them. Missing entirely: Cave Marrow.

Obeo P. Bearwactus

Despite the planetary scan describing the world as being rich in fauna, there were only three varieties to be found. A check of the list of available fauna revealed that the other creatures were all extinct. P. Bearwactus (pictured above) is my favorite, and I couldn’t resist taking a flight on one of their backs.

Obeo flying on P. Bearwactus

The nice thing about riding a flying creature is that they “take the wheel” so to speak, and you can sit back and scan the environment for various minerals and other matter that line the landscape. In this case I found a bunch of tiny rocks that I didn’t notice on ground level.

After my pleasant flight, I locked down that creature for a pet and moved on with my day. Which mostly involved me destroying everything in sight. I can’t help being a little destructive. Whether it’s on accident or completely intentional, I usually leave the place I’ve been a little worse than I found it. Pictured above: the last look before I wiped it all out.

I can’t reiterate enough that this landscape is dry and desolate. Other than these cacti, almost nothing can live. It’s no wonder the place catches on fire enough. The entire time that I visited (about 4 hours), I saw six or seven wildfires and zero storms. No water. No moisture. Just dry, dry landscape.

In retrospect, this is probably my second favorite world out of the Ayugkal system so far. The flying pink darlings really made it for me. Would I visit again? Probably, if a mission required it. Speaking of which, I better get back to the space station. See ya!
